The aims of Newsome Community Forum Limited are:

1. To bring together representatives from community organisations, and people who live or work in the Newsome area, to enable them to share information and explore ways to help each other, and to discuss the needs of the people in the area.
2. To develop a strategy for the improvement of the neighbourhoods of the Newsome area.
3. To encourage people to influence decision-making in their communities.
   1. The Newsome Area consists of the settlements of Newsome (including all Lockwood Scar), plus Primrose Hill, Ashenhurst, Lowerhouses, Hall Bower, Berry Brow, Armitage Bridge, Taylor Hill Generally, the Newsome Community Forum helps promote positive relationships between people, services, local groups and organisation, we try to combat social isolation, to help build confidence of individuals, and to encourage social engagement.

We do not require a formal recruitment policy for volunteers, as we choose to encourage and support anyone who lives and works in the Newsome area to participate in community activity. We strive to create a diverse and inclusive organisation within a diverse and inclusive community.

The Executive Group are elected on an annual basis, and role profiles have been developed so that all those taking on extra responsibilities are aware of what the roles involve.

All the volunteers are offered ongoing advice and support as required with any tasks they take on.

We are keen to allow all volunteers the opportunity to access any training available to enhance their roles, or their personal experience, and we regularly promote training opportunities.

All volunteers can reclaim any out of pocket expenses that have previously been agreed by the Executive team; this includes child care and travel expenses.

Volunteers are protected by the organisations public liability policy while participating in the organisations activities. However, drivers using their cars in connection with their voluntary work must inform their own insurance company to ensure adequate and continued cover.

This policy should be considered in conjunction with the Safeguarding Adults Policy, Safeguarding Children’s Policy, Equality and Diversity Policy, and the Health and Safety Policy.

In addition, the Articles of Association outline rules for decision making, including voting, record keeping, conflicts of interest, disputes, expenses, etc. The Operating Procedures are a simplified summary of these documents.
